| The 5th Round of Matching Grant Scheme | | 26 February 2010 | | | The HKSAR Government has proposed to allocate $1 billion for the launch of the 5th Matching Grant Scheme, as stated in its newly released Budget. The Scheme will be extended to 12 degree-awarding institutions and will run for nine months, from June 2010 to March 2011.
Each institution has a guaranteed minimum matching grant of $45 million, which will be disbursed on a dollar-for-dollar basis, beyond which $1 will be granted for every $2 in donations, up to a ceiling of $220 million. As the participating institutions have increased in number, it is anticipated that competition among them in fundraising activities will become still keener. The HKBU Foundation will continue to devote our maximum effort to acquire an increased level of donations for the University to facilitate the achievement of our objectives in the following areas: to meet the demands under the new academic curriculum; to raise the quality of teaching and research; to support the Campus Master Plan; and to promote an enhanced international environment on campus. |
