Seven Foundation Members and a Donor received honours from the HKSAR Government
1 July 2010

Seven HKBU Foundation members and a donor were included in this year's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Honours List in recognition of their significant contribution to Hong Kong and dedicated public and community service.

Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM)

Dr. Tin Ka-ping, GBM, MBE, Honorary Trustee of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the GBM for his significant contribution to charity and community service. He has exhibited extensive generosity in donating to various charitable causes over the past decades. He has established the "Tin Ka Ping Foundation" which has made numerous donations to various projects in the fields of education, culture, medicine, infrastructure and welfare. Dr. Tin has paid particular attention to investment in education. His sponsorship has benefited educational institutions at various levels.

Dr. Victor Fung, GBM, GBS, Chairman of Li & Fung (1906) Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the GBM for his dedicated and distinguished public service, particularly his impressive performance as the Chairman of the Airport Authority. Under his inspiring leadership, the Airport Authority launched a series of major infrastructural projects to cope with the evolving needs. Dr. Fung has been instrumental in developing the Hong Kong International Airport into one of the most important assets of Hong Kong.
Dr. Stanley Ho, GBM, GBS, OBE, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the GBM in recognition of his outstanding contribution to charity and community service. Over the years, Dr. Ho has been a staunch supporter of the Community Chest in its fund-raising programmes, and has made generous donations to various charitable organisations and tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong. He has a long and distinguished record of community service. 
Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS)

Mr. Victor Hui Chun-fui, BBS, SBS, MBE, JP, Director of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the GBS in recognition of his distinguished public and community service, particularly his dedicated contribution to the promotion and development of sports in Hong Kong over 40 years. A well-respected figure in the sports community, Mr. Hui has rendered valuable support to fostering the development of Hong Kong's top athletes and made exemplary effort in promoting the welfare and interests of athletes.

Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS)

Dr. Alice Chiu Tsang Hok-wan, BBS, JP, Co-Founder of Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation, Member of the Board of Governors and Director of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS in recognition of her dedication and commitment to charity work, particularly in relation to the care of young children and elderly in need as well as education services.

Dr. John Lee Sam-yuen, BBS, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation and Honorary Court Member of HKBU, was awarded the BBS for his valuable contribution to charity and community service, particularly his work as the Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. 
Mr. Tommy Li Ying-sang, BBS, JP, Chairman of Pak Shing Tong Ginseng Company Limited, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS for his meritorious public and community service, particularly his valuable contribution to the development and regulation of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong. 

Mr. Chan King-cheung, BBS, Chief Editor of Hong Kong Economic Journal Company Limited, key sponsor of HKBU's "Pulitzer Prize Winners Workshop", was awarded the BBS in recognition of his valuable contribution to the media industry and the training of up-and-coming journalists.


  Dr. David Wong and Dr. Royce Yuen appointed Justices of the Peace
1 July 2010

Dr. David Y. K. Wong, JP, Member of the Board of Governors and the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation, Member of the Council and the Court of HKBU, and Dr. Royce M. C. Yuen, JP, Member of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation, were appointed non-official Justices of the Peace by the HKSAR Government with effect from 1 July 2010.
