A delegation of more than 40 members from two Associations, namely the Wanchai and Central & Western District Industries and Commerce Association and The Association of Industries and Commerce of Yaumatei Tsimshatsui Mongkok Limited, visited the University on 14 June 2011. Professor Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lee Yuk Lun, Chairman of the Wanchai and Central & Western District Industries and Commerce Association; Mr. Lee Yuk Fat, Chairman of The Association of Industries and Commerce of Yaumatei Tsimshatsui Mongkok Limited, and members of both Associations for taking time out from their busy schedules to visit HKBU. In his speech, Professor Chan admired the rapid development of both Associations and their staunch efforts towards the betterment of China and Hong Kong. He looked forward to future collaboration with both Associations and hoped their members could have a better understanding of HKBU's development during the visit. Both Dr. Lee Yuk Lun and Mr. Lee Yuk Fat believed the future of our society lies in education. Both Associations will offer strong support to the provision of quality educational services for Hong Kong's young people. They wished to strengthen their ties with HKBU. The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Stephen Cheung, BBS, JP, Dean of Business. The delegation then visited the School of Communication and the School of Chinese Medicine. The members were warmly received by Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research and Development); Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Yu Xu, Acting Dean of Communication; Professor Cheuk Pak-tong, Director of the Academy of Film; Professor Wendy Hsiao, Associate Dean of Chinese Medicine; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Director of Clinical Division, School of Chinese Medicine; as well as Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. |
