The former Hoi Bun School, an Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation, has been recently revitalised as Jockey Club Lei Yue Mun Plus and held its grand opening. Officiating at the ceremony were Dr. Rita Fan, Steward of the Hong Kong Jockey Club; Mrs. Carrie Lam, Secretary for Development; Mr. Lin Wu, Director General of Kowloon Sub-office of Central Government's Liaison Office; Ms. Florence Hui, Under Secretary for Home Affairs; Ms. Ko Po Ling, Chairperson of Kowloon Federation of Associations (Community Services) Foundation Limited, and Mrs. Connie Wong, President of the Kowloon Federation of Associations. With a total area of more than 700 square metres, the Jockey Club Lei Yue Mun Plus is a two-storey resource centre for promotion of arts and culture in the community. It comprises a multi-purpose room, two activity rooms for performing arts, a ceramic workshop, a café and a rooftop garden overlooking the Lei Yue Mun Pass. It is open to the public from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. except on Mondays and public holidays. Established in 1946, Hoi Bun School provided quality education opportunities to the children of Lei Yue Mun Village for 62 years before it closed in 2008. Mr. Kenneth Ip, School Supervisor of Hoi Bun School and alumnus of HKBU, has been dedicated to promoting the revitalisation of Hoi Bun School since then. |
