The University recently received a generous donation of HK$2 million from Mr. Hung Hin Lui, Founder of Chi Tao Charitable Foundation Limited, in support of the School of Chinese Medicine Development Fund. In recognition of the Foundation's generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. Hung and his daughter Dr. Kineta Hung as well as Professor Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 19 June 2012 at Shiu Pong Hall of HKBU. After the ceremony, the donors shared their wise counsel regarding the recent developments of the School of Chinese Medicine with the HKBU representatives at a lunch reception.

The School of Chinese Medicine Development Fund aims to support the School's academic and research development, helping it to serve the community through innovative achievements in teaching and research. The School is highly committed to promoting the modernisation and internationalisation of Chinese medicine in teaching, research, clinical service and technology, so as to make a valuable contribution to the development of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong. Through the unwavering efforts of its members over a decade, the School has already become the leading institution in Chinese medicine education in Hong Kong.

Professor Albert Chan expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Hung Hin Lui for his remarkable contributions to the School of Chinese Medicine over the years. Professor Chan said that under the academic leadership of the new Dean of Chinese Medicine, Professor Lu Aiping, the School will continue to strive for excellence in teaching and research, and nurture more Chinese medicine professionals to serve the community.
