Visit by Federation of Hong Kong Industries

A delegation of 22 members from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), led by its Chairman Dr. Roy Chung, BBS, JP, paid a visit to the University on 21 June 2012. They were warmly received by Professor Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor; Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; as well as Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. The delegation was briefed on the uniqueness of Whole Person Education at HKBU and the latest developments of the University.

 
FHKI is one of the most representative and influential organizations in Hong Kong with more than 50 years of history. The Federation is composed of around 3,000 corporate members and is committed to promoting the industrial, economic and social development in the local community. It also provides support to the industrialists in developing markets in Mainland China and overseas. In his speech, Chairman Chung commended HKBU for its innovative research achievements which have a significant impact on society. He expected that the visit could strengthen ties between the industrial sector and the University and bring their fruitful collaboration in future.
 
During the visit, Professor Gordon Tang, Head of Department of Finance and Decision Sciences of the School of Business, introduced the latest developments of the School; while Professor Jonathan Wong, Professor of Department of Biology, Director of the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre and Director of the Sino-Forest Applied Research Centre for Pearl River Delta Environment, briefed the guests on the environmental projects carried out by HKBU. The delegation also visited the School of Chinese Medicine to gain a better understanding of the teaching and learning activities in HKBU through the introduction of Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine, and Professor David Fong, Chair Professor of Chinese Medicine. After the visit, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for the delegation joined by the HKBU representatives and Dr. Alfred Tan, Head of Knowledge Transfer.
