The Legislative Council has approved an allocation of HK$2.5 billion to implement the Sixth Matching Grant Scheme by the HKSAR Government. The Scheme will be extended to all statutory and approved post-secondary institutions and will run for a two-year period from 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2014.

Each institution has a guaranteed minimum matching grant of HK$60 million, which will be disbursed on a dollar-for-dollar basis, beyond which HK$1 will be granted for every HK$2 in donations, up to a ceiling of HK$600 million.

As the participating institutions have increased in number, it is anticipated that competition in fundraising will become even keener. The HKBU Foundation will continue to devote its utmost effort to soliciting funds from all available sources to sustain the University's development in all spheres of its endeavours: to meet the demands under the new four-year undergraduate system; to raise the quality of teaching and research; to support the Campus Master Plan; and to promote an enhanced international environment on campus, etc.
