Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen, Honorary Permanent Presidents of the HKBU Foundation, hosted a banquet in honour of Professor Jao Tsung I, a renowned classical Chinese scholar, to commemorate Mr. Suen's acquaintanceship with Professor Jao for ten years and to celebrate Professor Jao's ninety-seventh birthday.

The banquet was held at The Peninsula Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui and was well received by over 100 friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Suen. In his message printed on the programme, Mr. Suen recalled the first time he made the acquaintance of Professor Jao and thanked Professor Jao for his mentoring over the years. Mr. Suen said it was always enlightening by simply observing Professor Jao's behaviour and attitudes to scholarship, art and life.  

Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, was invited to attend the banquet and to share a few words on the occasion. Representatives from HKBU also included Professor Chen Zhi, Head of Department of Chinese Language and Literature cum Director of the Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
