The University received a generous donation of US$540,000 from the Y.K. Jim Charitable Foundation in 2010 in support of the Campus Master Plan and the University Development Fund.  In recognition of the Foundation's generosity, a room in the newly-built Academic and Administration Building (AAB) was named the "Mr. and Mrs. Y.K. Jim Christian Worship and Classroom". Apart from teaching, the room will be designated for holding Christian activities for members of the University community.

A Thanksgiving Service and Naming Ceremony was held on 20 December 2012. Officiating guests were Mrs. Helen Jim-Lundblad and Mr. K.C. Cheng, representatives of the Y.K. Jim Charitable Foundation; Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, JP, Deputy Chairman of the University Council and the Court, as well as Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor.

In his address, Professor Albert Chan said that the University, with its heritage of Christian higher education, is dedicated to cultivating morally strong students and donations are important to support the University's related development. Professor Chan said he felt very happy and blessed to have the opportunity for HKBU to continue the work of student character-building drawing on Christian heritage.

The Y. K. Jim Charitable Foundation was established by Mrs. Helen Jim-Lundblad in loving memory of her late father with the aim of promoting Christian teachings based on the Bible as well as building and supporting Christian communities in Hong Kong, China and Asia.

The ceremony was well attended by family members of Mrs. Helen Jim-Lundblad; representatives and guests of the Y.K. Jim Charitable Foundation; supporters and friends of HKBU, such as Mr. and Mrs. William Hui, Mrs. Chan Yau Man Ying Fidelia, Rev. Terence Chan and Rev. Dr. Chu Wood Ping; as well as members of the Council and the Court, staff and students.  After the ceremony, the guests toured the new facilities of AAB.
