Dr. Henry Y.W. Fong, SBS, MBE, JP, Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong Group of Companies, Chairman of the Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation and the Fong's Family Foundation, visited the University on 25 June 2013 to exchange views with HKBU representatives on the latest developments of the School of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Fong also made a generous donation of HK$700,000 in support of the development of the Chinese Medicinal Material Images Database for the promotion of the specialisation and internationalisation of Chinese medicine.

To express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Fong and his Foundations for their staunch support towards the University over the years, Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, composed a couplet for presentation to Dr. Fong as a token of appreciation. After the visit, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for Dr. Fong at Shiu Pong Hall. The HKBU representatives attending the ceremony and lunch included Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine; Dr. Chen Hubiao, Associate Professor of the School and Programme Director of the Bachelor of Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine programme; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
