The University recently received a generous donation of HK$500,000 from Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co. Ltd., designated for the establishment of the "Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Scholarship" to reward and recognise outstanding Chinese Medicine undergraduate students. The scholarships aim at encouraging students to excel in their study so as to contribute to the Chinese medicine industry after graduation. In recognition of the donor's generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. Zhang Huan Ping, Executive Director and Deputy General Manager of Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co. Ltd., and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 18 December 2013. Professor Albert Chan expressed his sincere gratitude to Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co. Ltd. for its tremendous support to the School of Chinese Medicine. He looked forward to receiving more guidance from the company in future so as to enhance teaching and research in Chinese medicine at HKBU. Other guests attending the ceremony were Ms. Magie Hua and Mr. Dong Ling, respectively Deputy General Manager and Area Manager of Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co. Ltd. Representatives from HKBU included Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine; Professor Zhao Zhong Zhen, Associate Dean of Chinese Medicine; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement; and Mrs. Helen Tsang, Head of the Secretariat of the School of Chinese Medicine. After the ceremony, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for the guests at Shiu Pong Hall. |
