Visit by Hong Kong Kwun Tong Industries & Commerce Association

A delegation of 12 members from the Hong Kong Kwun Tong Industries & Commerce Association (HKKTICA), led by its President Mr. Chan Yee Pon, HEGRCOSJ, MH, paid a visit to the University on 27 May 2014.

In his speech, Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor said although relatively modest in scale and resources, Hong Kong Baptist University has been striving all along to provide broad-based and creativity-inspiring education. Professor Chan praised Dr. Liu Hong Fai, JP, ex-President of HKKTICA, for his unfailing support for the University's development and serving on the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation. He hoped that the delegation could gain a better understanding of the University through the visit and he looked forward to collaborating with the Association in nurturing talent for the community.

Founded in 1982, HKKTICA aims to foster the long-term development of the industrial and business sectors in Hong Kong and to promote economic exchange with the Mainland. Mr. Chan Yee Pon expressed that the Association concurs with the University's philosophy of Whole Person Education and highly appreciates its commitment to cultivating students' artistic and cultural attainment as well as ability of independent thinking. He anticipated more collaborative opportunities between the commercial sector and HKBU for the betterment of Hong Kong.

The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Allan Chan, Associate Vice-President and Acting Dean of Business. The delegation then visited the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine. They were warmly received by Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, Dr. Zhang Hong Qi, Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine, Mr. Chen Yimin, Senior Lecturer of the Academy of Film, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. A lunch was hosted by Professor Chan after the visit.
