The Thanksgiving Reception of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation was held on 3 February 2015 to celebrate the 6th Anniversary of the Foundation and to express its heartfelt appreciation to Foundation members and friends of the University for their ardent support.

In his welcoming remarks, Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the University's major achievements in various fields.  He said he was grateful for the opportunity to develop profound friendships with many staunch donors during his five-year term of presidency. As a family member of the HKBU Foundation, Professor Chan would be pleased to continue to offer support to the development of HKBU after his retirement. At the reception, he presented a couplet composed by himself to extend his appreciation and blessing to supporters of the University.

In his speech, Dr. Wilfred Wong, SBS, JP, Chairman of the HKBU Foundation, said the University had raised more than HK$1 billion for its development since the Foundation's inception in 2009.  In addition, the number of Foundation members had increased by nearly threefold from 131 to 520. Dr. Wong also expressed his appreciation to Professor Albert Chan for his untiring efforts and generous donations to the HKBU Foundation. Over the years, Professor Chan has personally donated over HK$3 million to the University.

To express the University's gratitude to the Honorary Vice-Presidents, Honorary Directors and Directors of the Foundation for their generosity, Dr. Wong and Professor Chan presented Foundation Certificates to them at the Reception.

The event was well attended by over 140 guests including members of the Council and the Board of Governors, Foundation members, friends of the University as well as staff and students. They included Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, JP, Mrs. Pamela Chan, BBS, JP and Mrs. Doreen Chan, respectively Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Treasurer of the Council and the Court of HKBU; Ir Dr. K.K. Wong, GBS, JP and Dr. Ronald Lu, Vice-Chairmen of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Alice Chiu, BBS, JP, Mr. Brandon Liu, JP and Mr. Billy Hung, members of the Board of Governors; Dr. Sze Chi Ching, JP, Mrs. Mary Suen, Ms. Delia Chan and other Foundation members; as well as Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents and Deans of HKBU.
