HKBU recently received a donation of HK$12.46 million from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust designated for procurement of professional and advanced full High Definition equipment for the television and film studio of the Academy of Film under the School of Communication. In recognition of the Trust's generous support, the University named the film studio at the newly opened Communication and Visual Arts Building on Baptist University Road Campus the "Jockey Club Television and Film Studio". The naming ceremony held on 23 June was officiated by Mr. Anthony Chow Wing Kin, SBS, JP, Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Mr. Wilfred Wong, SBS, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation and Chairman of the Council and the Court; Professor Ng Ching Fai, GBS, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Zhao Xinshu, Dean of Communication; and Dr. Cheuk Pak-tong, Director of the Academy of Film of the School of Communication. Guests presented at the ceremony including Mr. Douglas So, Executive Director, Charities, Legal and Corporate Secretariat of the Hong Kong Jockey Club; Mr. Wellington Fung, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Film Development Council; Mr. Tsang Sing Ming, Deputy Controller of Foreign Affairs of the Television Broadcasts Limited; Mr. Kwong Hoi Ying, Senior Vice President of Asia Television Limited; professionals from the television and film industry, supporters and friends of HKBU, Court and Council members, members of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation, as well as staff and students of the University. |
