In appreciation of a generous donation of HK$1.5 million from Ms. Song Yakun (third from left), Chairman of Jilin Fuyuanguan Food Group Co. Ltd., an agreement signing ceremony was held on 17 May 2010 at the University. The donation is designated for the establishment of the "Yakun Scholarship Programme for Mainland Postgraduates" in support of Mainland postgraduates majoring in Science with outstanding academic achievements.

Ms. Song shared her wise counsel regarding the University's developments in a meeting with Professor C. F. Ng, GBS, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tang Tao, Associate Vice-President and Director of Graduate School, Professor Liu Liang, Dean and Chair Professor of Chinese Medicine, Professor Rick Wong, Dean of Science, Dr. Wei Liqun, Associate Professor of Management, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. Accompanied by HKBU representatives, Ms. Song also visited the School of Chinese Medicine.
