Four distinguished alumni from the physical education and recreation profession shared their valuable experience with some 100 guests, alumni and students at the fifth session of the 55th Anniversary Alumni Sharing Forum on 11 October.

The four alumni were Miss Maggie Lam (Physical Education and Recreation Management) (Second from left), Senior Sports Reporter, i-Cable News Limited; Dr. Sam Li (Physical Education and Recreation Management) (First from left), Associate Professor, Department of Hotel, Service and Tourism Studies, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education; Dr. Patrick Chan (Geography) (Second from right), Section Head (Physical Education), Student Affairs Office, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and Mr. Kenny Chow (Sociology) (First from right), Associate Director (Sports), Student Affairs Office, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

At the Forum, Miss Lam said she was grateful to have had studied at HKBU where she acquired professional knowledge in PE. She advised students to devote themselves to a career they are passionate about rather than focusing on finding a high paying job. Dr. Li said the open-mindedness of "PE persons" enabled them to make friends easily. He encouraged PE people to be punctual, passionate, and to spare no effort in contributing to society. Dr. Chan considered sportsmanship, team spirit and striving for the best as the core attributes of physical education, and said students should be eager to make progress. Dr. Chow also advised students to uphold the unbeatable spirit of PE people, and to always do their best to seize opportunities when they arise.
