To strengthen the research culture, sharpen the research performance and further promote the development of interdisciplinary research and theme-based research on campus, Hong Kong Baptist University has established the territory's first Institute of Creativity this year. The Institute will be a high-powered think tank where Nobel Laureates in different academic disciplines and world-class scholars will be invited to interact and exchange ideas with students, researchers and faculty members of the University.

A gathering with Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu, Chairman of the Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited and Honorary Trustee of the HKBU Foundation, and her family members, as well as members of the Institute of Creativity was held on 11 May 2011 at Shiu Pong Hall. Professor Albert S.C. Chan presented a couplet as a souvenir to Mrs. Hung to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Hung Family for their staunch support to HKBU over the years. The wordings of the couplet were:

           明德勵學育全人
