A delegation of 15 members from The Association of Industries and Commerce of Hong Kong Southern District Limited (SDCA), led by its Founder Chairman, Dr. Liu Hong Fai, visited the University on 18 July 2012. Warmly received by Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement, the delegation was briefed on the uniqueness of Whole Person Education at HKBU and the latest developments of the University.

Dr. Liu Hong Fai has recently joined the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation. In 2011 he established SDCA with currently around 100 members. The Association has successfully engaged the full energies of the industrial and business sectors in the Southern District to promote the industrial and commercial development in Hong Kong and Mainland China. It also provides support to a wide range of activities for the betterment of the Southern District community.  In his speech, Chairman Liu said that the Association concurs with the University's philosophy of Whole Person Education and appreciates the University's commitment to providing dedicated service to the community as one of its strategic focuses. With the Association's emphasis on youth training and development, he looked forward to collaboration opportunities between SDCA and HKBU and sharing with our students.

During the visit, Professor Allan Chan, Acting Dean of Business, introduced the latest developments of the School of Business to the delegation. The guests then visited the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine to gain a better understanding of the teaching and research activities in HKBU through the introduction of Dr. Sobel Chan, Senior Lecturer of Academy of Film, and Professor Bian Zhao Xiang, Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine. After the visit, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for the delegation joined by HKBU representatives.
