The University recently received a generous donation of HK$100,000 from Kowloon Watch Group designated for the establishment of the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology with the aim of promoting the academic pursuit in the area of Jao studies for the enhancement of the importance and influence of Chinese culture. A cheque presentation ceremony was held during the "Kowloon Watch Company 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner: The Precious Story of Succession" at The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong on 26 November 2012. Dr. Kam Shing Wong, Managing Director of Kowloon Watch Group, Professor Kam Chow Wong, Professor Kam Fai Wong, Mr. Peter Wong and Ms Rose Wong, Directors of the Group, Ms Teresa Wong, Executive Director of the Group, Mr. Kevin Wong, Business Development Manager of the Group, and Ms Angie Wong, Business Director of FTL (International) Limited, presented the donation cheque to Dr. Simon Suen, JP, Honorary Director of Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute and Chairman of SML Group Limited, and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor. The Kowloon Watch Company 60th Anniversary Dinner was well attended by nearly 500 distinguished guests and community leaders from Hong Kong and overseas.
