HKBU receives HK$1 million from Mr. Philip Tiu and HK$200,000 from Miss Money Lam and Mr. Gabi Lam

The University recently received a generous donation of HK$1 million from Mr. Philip Tiu, Chairman of Jia Ying (HK) Group, and HK$100,000 each from Miss Money Lam, Director – Product Development of Sweater Garment (HK) Ltd., and Mr. Gabi Lam, General Manager of Sin Tin Lun (HK) Garment Accessories Co., Ltd., in support of the research and teaching development of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology (BUJAS).

In recognition of the donors' generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. Philip Tiu, Miss Money Lam, Mr. Gabi Lam and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 22 July 2013. Guests attending the ceremony included Dr. Simon Suen, JP, Chairman of SML Group Limited, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation and Founding President of the Development Committee of the BUJAS, and Mrs. Mary Suen; Mr. Lam Cheung Chuen, Chairman of Sun Tin Lun Holdings Limited and Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, Mrs. Lam and their son Mr. Jeffrey Lam; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.

The guests visited the School of Chinese Medicine and the Academy of Film to gain a better understanding of the teaching facilities and development of HKBU. They were warmly received by Professor Bian Zhao Xiang, Associate Vice-President and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine, and Professor Cheuk Pak Tong, Director of the Academy of Film. After the ceremony, Professor Albert Chan hosted a lunch for the guests at Shiu Pong Hall.
