The University recently received a generous donation of HK$200,000 from Mr. Alex Ko and HK$100,000 in total from Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Ltd. in 2012 and 2013 designated for the academic and promotional activities of the Centre for Olympic Studies (COS). In recognition of the donors' generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. Alex Ko; Ms Megumi Ose, Managing Director of Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Ltd.; Professor Adrian Bailey, Dean of Social Sciences; and Professor Patrick Lau, Associate Head of Department of Physical Education cum Director of COS, was held on 13 March 2013. Ms Sibyl Ng, Senior Marketing Executive of Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Ltd., and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement, also attended the ceremony. The Centre for Olympic Studies was established jointly by HKBU, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China, and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in 2007. Through the organisation of seminars, workshops and other educational activities as well as the maintenance of a database on Olympic Education, the COS aims to promote Olympism and Olympic Education in Hong Kong. |
