HKBU receives HK$1 million from Mr. Herman Hui to establish "Ada S.H. Li Social Work Practicum Scholarship"

The University recently received a generous donation pledge of HK$1 million from Mr. Herman Hui designated for the establishment of the "Ada S.H. Li Social Work Practicum Scholarship". In recognition of the donor's generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hui and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 6 February 2013. After the ceremony, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for the donor joined by HKBU representatives.

Mr. Herman Hui is a lawyer and has been a Guest Lecturer of the Law and Society course of the Bachelor of Social Work programme since 2003. His mother also taught in the Department of Social Work in early years. The Scholarship, which was established in loving memory of Mr. Hui's mother, will be awarded to outstanding Social Work students who have practicums outside Hong Kong, such as Canada, Australia, Singapore, China and Taiwan, enabling them to broaden their horizons.

The HKBU representatives attending the ceremony included Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Adrian Bailey, Dean of Social Sciences; Professor Petrus Ng, Head of Department of Social Work; Dr. Angela Tsun, Associate Head, Professor Victor Wong and Dr. William Wong of the Department; Professor Chan Kai Fong, Chairperson of HKBU Social Work Learning and Exchange Foundation Fund; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
