A delegation of 18 members from the Board of Directors of Pok Oi Hospital, led by its Chairman Dr. Ho Wing Tim, paid a visit to the University on 8 July 2014.

Founded in 1919, Pok Oi Hospital has been guided by its motto of "We Love, We Care, We Serve" in serving the Hong Kong community. It strives to provide a wide range of medical, education and community services to meet the needs of the general public.

Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to members of the Board of Directors of Pok Oi Hospital for taking time out from their busy schedules to visit HKBU. The delegation was briefed on the uniqueness of Whole Person Education at HKBU and the latest developments of the University. Professor Chan hoped that the delegation could gain a better understanding of the University from the visit and he looked forward to collaborating with Pok Oi Hospital in nurturing talent for the community.

In his speech, Dr. Ho Wing Tim said Pok Oi Hospital dedicates itself to promoting charitable and social services in Hong Kong. Last year, the Pok Oi Hospital - Hong Kong Baptist University Chinese Medicine Centre for Training and Research (Yau Tsim Mong) was established to provide professional yet affordable Chinese medicine services to the grassroots. Dr. Ho wished to enhance future collaborations with HKBU for the benefit of the disadvantaged and to foster social harmony.

The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Allan Chan, Associate Vice-President and Acting Dean of Business. The delegation then visited the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine. They were warmly received by Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Zhao Zhongzhen, MH, Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement; and representatives of the Academy of Film. A lunch was hosted by Professor Chan after the visit.
