Three Foundation Members appointed as Members of Commission on Poverty

Dr. David Wong, BBS, JP, Member of the Board of Governors and the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation and Managing Director of United Overseas Investments Limited, and Ms. May Chan, BBS, JP, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation and Director of News & Public Affairs of Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company Limited, were appointed as Non-official Members of the second-term Commission on Poverty.
Dr. Joseph Lee, GBS, JP, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation and Chairman of Wofoo Foundation Limited, was also appointed as Vice-chairperson of the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund Task Force for the Commission on Poverty. Their appointments take effect from 1 December 2014 to 30 June 2017. |

Mr. Philip Kan re-appointed as Non-Executive Director of Urban Renewal Authority

Mr. Philip Kan, Member of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation, was re-appointed as Non-Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Authority with effect from 1 December 2014 to 30 April 2016. Mr. Kan is currently Vice-President of the HKBU Century Club.

Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, hosted a reception to celebrate the Kai Fong Festival and the Elderly Festival at its hall on 25 November 2014. Officiating guests included Mr. So Chung Ping, MH, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Association; Mr. Lam Cho Kwong, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Association; Mr. Yiu Yu Hung, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Association; Dr. Ko Wing Man, BBS, JP, Secretary for Food and Health; Dr. Stephen Tai, GBS, JP, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Ms. Janet Wong, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology; Mrs. Laura Liang Aron, JP, District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong), and others. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement, attended the function on behalf of the University. |

The elections of the 40th term of Vice Presidents and Executive Committee Members of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, were recently held. Dr. Dennis Ng, BBS, MH, Member of the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation and Managing Director of Polaris Jewellery Manufacturer Limited, and Dr. Tony Tai, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation and Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of W. Haking Enterprises Limited, were elected as Vice Presidents. |
