The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. George Ho, GBS, OBE, JP, Trustee of The Jessie & George Ho Charitable Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, on 4 June 2014. He was 95 years old.

A prominent figure in the broadcasting industry, Mr. Ho founded Commercial Radio in 1959 and Commercial Television in 1975. He was also known for his active participation in charitable activities. Through The Jessie & George Ho Charitable Foundation established in 2006, he made significant contributions to various charitable organisations and was dedicated to the development of higher education in Hong Kong. The University received HK$5 million from the Foundation in 2009 for the establishment of the Commercial Radio 50th Anniversary Scholarship for students in the School of Communication.

The HKBU Foundation conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Ho family at this time of bereavement. Mr. Ho will always be remembered for his unfailing support for the University's development.
