The University previously received a precious collection of paintings, antiques, craftworks from Mr. Cheung On Tak, Founder of the Cheung On Tak Charity Foundation, for charity auction.  More than HK$10 million generated from the auction was donated to the University in support of the Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine, in addition to the Foundation's earlier donation of HK$6 million for the establishment of the Award in 2011 for promoting the internationalisation and modernisation of Chinese medicine. 

In recognition of the donor's generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony was held at the Award Presentation Ceremony cum Award Winner's Lecture of the Second Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine on 26 March 2014. Officiating at the cheque presentation ceremony were Mr. Cheung On Tak (second from right), Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine.

The University hosted a dinner in honour of the award winner Professor Han Jisheng after the ceremony and lecture.  Guests attending the dinner included Mr. Cheung On Tak and his family; Mr. Lau Chor Tak, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, and his family; Dr. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, Member of the Board of Governors and Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation; Mr. So Chung Ping, MH, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation; Mr. Lam Cho Kwong, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Association; Mr. Yiu Yu Hung, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Association; and Ms Delia Chan, Member of the Alumni Committee and Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, as well as members of the Panel of Adjudicators and representatives of HKBU.
