Sun Museum celebrates its grand opening and inaugural exhibition

The Sun Museum, a non-profit private museum funded by the Simon Suen Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, recently hosted its grand opening and inaugural exhibition at SML Tower in Kwun Tong. The exhibition entitled “Dawn of a Sunny Century – 20th-Century Chinese Paintings from the Yitao Collection” features 40 masterpieces of modern and contemporary Chinese ink paintings by 13 renowned masters including Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqia, Lui Shoukwan, Lin Fengmian, Wu Guanzhong and Jao Tsung-i. The public can enjoy free admission to the museum by appointment and the exhibition will be held until 17 October 2015.
Officiating at the inaugural ceremony were officials from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR and the HKSAR Government; Ms. Angeline Yiu (second from left), daughter of Professor Jao Tsung-i; Dr. Wilfred Wong, SBS, JP (fourth from right), Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Chairman of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP (fourth from left), President and Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Simon Suen, JP (second from right) and Miss Chloe Suen (first from left), Founding Chairman and Chairperson respectively of the Simon Suen Foundation. The ceremony was well-attended by many guests including Ms. Veronica Yiu, daughter of Professor Jao; Dr. Tang Wai Hung, Honorary Patron of the Development Committee of the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology; Mrs. Fidelia Chan, Member of the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation; Mr. Cheng Chak Kuen, donor of the University; Mrs. Mabel Chan, wife of Professor Albert Chan; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
