The University recently received generous donations of HK$1 million from Mr. K.Y. Hung, President of Ten Pao Group International Ltd., and HK$200,000 from Ms. Jenny Wong, Managing Director of Victory Concept Electronics Ltd., in support of the development of the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology. In recognition of the donors' generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. K.Y. Hung, Ms. Jenny Wong and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 23 January 2015. After the ceremony, the guests exchanged views with HKBU representatives at a lunch hosted by Professor Chan.

Other guests and HKBU representatives attending the ceremony included the family members and friends of Mr. Hung and Ms. Wong; Mr. Lam Cheung Chuen, Chairman of Sun Tin Lun Holdings Limited, and Mrs. Lam; Ms. Winnie Ip, President of the Lions Club of Tuen Mun, and members of the Club; Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research and Development); Professor Chen Zhi, Director of the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
