Eight HKBU Foundation members and four donors made an appearance on the 2015 list of the richest Chinese people published by Forbes:

• Dr. Walter Kwok, JP, Chairman of the Walter Kwok Foundation, donor of the University
• Dr. Mochtar Riady, Honorary Chairman of Lippo Limited, Honorary Permanent President
• Dr. Henry Y.W. Fong, SBS, MBE, JP, Chairman of the Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation and the Fong's Family Foundation, donor of the University
• Dr. the Hon. Victor K. Fung, GBM, GBS, Chairman, and Dr. William K. Fung, SBS, JP, Director of Victor and William Fung Foundation Limited, Honorary President

Mr. Lau Chor Tak, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, and Dr. Yu Yui Chiu Nelson, donor of the University, will be awarded an Honorary Fellowship by The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 11 May 2015, in recognition of their contributions to society and staunch support for the education sector in Hong Kong. Mr. Lau is currently Chairman of Lau Chor Tak Foundation Limited, while Dr. Yu is currently Senior Partner of Messrs. Yu, Tsang & Loong, Solicitors and Notaries.

The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries, founder of The Chartered Secretaries Foundation Limited, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, hosted an Academic Cocktail at the Hong Kong Club on 10 April 2015. The cocktail was officiated by Dr. Maurice Ngai (right), President of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries.  Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement, attended the function on behalf of the University.
