Alumni from Social Services Sector shared at 55th Anniversary Alumni Sharing Forum
15 September 2011

Three alumni from the social services sector shared their experience and affection for their profession with about 200 guests, alumni, staff and students at the 55th Anniversary Alumni Sharing Forum on 15 September. They were Mr. Stephen Yau (second from right), Chief Executive of International Social Service Hong Kong Branch; Mr. Kwok Wai-keung (second from left), General Manager (Family and Community Core Business) of Hong Kong Christian Service; and Ms. Winnie Ying (first from right), Secretary General of Community Investment & Inclusion Fund under the Labour and Welfare Bureau.

At the Forum, Mr. Stephen Yau, who has worked in the social services sector for 40 years, said it is his heartfelt enthusiasm to help the underprivileged that has supported him all along and he hoped to continue to help more people in need. As a Christian, Mr. Kwok Wai-keung said he has always been grateful for having the chance to serve others. Over the past 30 years, he has set different goals for himself at different stages so as to keep himself moving ahead in serving the community. Ms. Winnie Ying, who works with adolescents in need, shared some of her frontline experiences. She encouraged students to set a mission for themselves, to learn to speak from the heart, to recognise what they're passionate about and to turn those passions into action to help the needy.

Organised by the Alumni Affairs Office, the next talk in the series will be held on 11 October (Tuesday), with four outstanding alumni from the physical education and recreation management sector sharing their experiences.
