The Federation of Hong Kong Guangdong Community Organisations, led by its Chairman, Ir Dr. K.K. Wong, SBS, JP, paid a visit to the University on 22 March 2012. Ir Dr. Wong is also the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors and Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation. Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Ir Dr. Wong for his unfailing support to the University, as well as to the members of the Federation for taking time out from their busy schedules to visit HKBU. Founded in 1996, the Federation is one of the most representative and influential organisations in the territory, with members coming from various sectors. Professor Chan hoped that all the members could have a better understanding of HKBU's latest developments during the visit and looked forward to collaborating with the Federation in nurturing future leaders for the community. In his speech, Ir Dr. Wong said that the Federation of Hong Kong Guangdong Community Organisations is devoted to fostering exchange and collaboration between the Mainland and Hong Kong as well as promoting charitable and community services. He shared with the University's philosophy of Whole Person Education and expected that the visit could bring mutual understanding and cooperation opportunities for both parties. The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Stephen Cheung, BBS, JP, Dean of Business. The members then visited the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine. They were warmly received by Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research & Development); Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Cheuk Pak Tong, Director of Academy of Film; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Dean and Director of Clinical Division of School of Chinese Medicine; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. |
