Dr. Jonathan Choi, BBS, JP, Chairman of The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), together with the committee members of the Chamber, paid a visit to the University on 13 December 2010. Established in 1900, CGCC is one of the oldest and largest chambers of commerce in Hong Kong, with over 6,000 member companies from various sectors of industry and trade. Professor Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Choi, for his unfailing support to the University. Professor Chan wished to explore the feasibility of future collaboration with CGCC. In his speech, Dr. Choi said that CGCC aims to build a harmonious society. The Chamber has long been making contribution to education by sponsoring different kinds of internship and exchange programme for tertiary students. They wished these initiatives will broaden the horizons of the new generation and enhance their sense of national identity. The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Stephen Cheung, BBS, JP, Dean of Business. The delegation then visited the School of Chinese Medicine and the newly built Communication and Visual Arts (CVA) Building. They were also warmly received by Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research & Development); Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Prof. Tang Tao, Associate Vice-President and Acting Dean of Science; Professor David Fong, Associate Vice-President and Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine; Professor Zhao Xinshu, Dean of Communication; Dr. Cheuk Pak-tong, Director of the Academy of Film; as well as Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. |
