The Thanksgiving Reception of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation (HKBUF) was held on 8 February 2012 to express the University's appreciation to its supporters and to celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of the Foundation.

Officiating at the Reception were Mr. Wilfred Wong, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Board of Governors of HKBUF, and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor. The Reception was well attended by around 90 guests including members of the Board of Governors, members of the Foundation, friends of the University and staff. They were Ir Dr. K.K. Wong, SBS, JP, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors and Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee; Mr. William Leung, BBS, JP, Treasurer of the Board of Governors and Chairman of the Alumni Committee; Dr. John Chan, Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee; Mr. William Hui, Mr. David Mong, Mr. Zhang Da Peng, Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents and Deans of HKBU.

In his welcoming remarks, Professor Albert S.C. Chan expressed his heartfelt gratitude by presenting a couplet composed by himself to all members of the Foundation. He thanked the Board of Governors, the Alumni Committee and the Entrepreneur Committee for their able leadership, and members of the Foundation for their continued support and contribution to the University.

In his speech, Mr. Wilfred Wong reported that the number of Foundation members grew more than 10 percent in 2011, reaching a total of 307. He also highlighted that HKBU had received HK$223 million in the 5th Matching Grant Scheme, ranking 4th among the twelve participating tertiary education institutions. For the past three years, the Foundation had secured HK$380 million in donations which doubled our original target. The achievements of the University also included the pledged donations of around HK$170 million that had taken the sum to over HK$550 million. He said the Foundation had set a target of raising at least HK$100 million each year, and the new round of the Scheme would be a good opportunity for the University to garner more support from the community.

To express the University's gratitude to the Honorary Vice-Presidents, Honorary Directors and Directors of the Foundation, Mr. Wong and Professor Chan presented them with Foundation Certificates at the Reception.
