The Thanksgiving Reception of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation was held on 28 February 2013 to express the University's appreciation to its supporters and to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the Foundation. Officiating at the Reception were Mr. Wilfred Y.W. Wong, SBS, JP, Chairman of the HKBU Foundation, and Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor. The Reception was well attended by about 80 guests including members of the Board of Governors, Foundation members, friends of the University and staff. They included Ir Dr. K.K. Wong, SBS, JP, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors and Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee, Mr. William Leung, BBS, JP, Treasurer of the Board of Governors and Chairman of the Alumni Committee, Professor Alice Chiu, BBS, JP, Mr. Billy Hung, Mrs. Mary Suen, Professor Peggy Lam, GBS, OBE, JP, Mrs. Pauline Cutrupia, Mr. Lam Cheung Chuen, Mr. So Chung Ping, MH, Mr. and Mrs. So Wing Kin, Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents and Deans of HKBU. In his welcoming remarks, Professor Albert Chan expressed his deep appreciation of the contribution made by numerous supporters over the years. With their ardent support, HKBU students can benefit from a better learning environment through the many new facilities on campus. He also presented a couplet composed by himself to extend his gratitude and blessing to our valuable supporters. In his speech, Mr. Wilfred Wong expressed his gratitude to the community for their enthusiastic support to the University. He was delighted that the Foundation has surpassed its annual target of raising at least HK$100 million over the past year. In addition, the number of Foundation members has increased by 1.5 times in the four years since the inception of the Foundation, reaching a total of 339 as of late February 2013. Mr. Wong said the Alumni Committee, a standing committee of the Foundation, launched the HKBU Hostel Donation Campaign last year, enabling alumni to support the University's development through donations. The Entrepreneur Committee has helped to further strengthen the University's ties with the industrial and commercial sectors and broaden our social network. To express the University's gratitude to the Honorary Vice-Presidents, Honorary Directors and Directors of the Foundation, Mr. Wong and Professor Chan presented them with Foundation Certificates at the Reception. |
