A delegation of 17 members from the Board of Directors of Yan Chai Hospital, led by its Chairman Mrs. Susan So, paid a visit to the University on 19 November 2014.

Founded in 1973, Yan Chai Hospital has been guided by its motto of "Serving the Community in the Spirit of Compassion" in serving the Hong Kong community. It strives to provide a wide range of medical, education and community services to meet the needs of the general public.

Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, said there is a close tie between Yan Chai Hospital and HKBU and Mrs. Susan So is currently Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to members of the Board of Directors of Yan Chai Hospital for taking time out from their busy schedules to visit HKBU. The delegation was briefed on the uniqueness of Whole Person Education at HKBU and the latest developments of the University. Professor Chan hoped that the delegation could gain a better understanding of the University and he looked forward to collaborating with Yan Chai Hospital in nurturing talent for the community.

In her speech, Mrs. Susan So said the collaborative relationship between Yan Chai Hospital and HKBU has been long established. Since 2007, three clinical centres for training and research in Chinese medicine located in Ha Kwai Chung, West Kowloon and Tsuen Wan have been jointly operated to provide quality Chinese medical services to the needy. Mrs. So expected to enhance future collaborations with HKBU for the benefit of more people.

The visit began with an introduction to the developments at the School of Business by Professor Allan Chan, Associate Vice-President and Interim Dean of Business. The delegation then visited the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine. They were warmly received by Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine, Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine, Mr. Man Shu Sum, Associate Director of the Academy of Film, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
