HKBU receives HK$500,000 from The Sik-Kee Au Family Foundation

The University recently received a generous donation of HK$500,000 from The Sik-Kee Au Family Foundation in support of the teaching activities of the School of Chinese Medicine. Of the donation, HK$300,000 was designated for the establishment of the Au Lock Tung Memorial Scholarship in Chinese Medicine to reward outstanding students of the Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science programme. The remaining donation will be used to support an academic seminar to be organised by the School of Chinese Medicine and to establish awards to honour outstanding teaching and supporting staff of the School.

In recognition of the Foundation's generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Dr. and Mrs. Au Sik Kee, Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine, and Professor Zhang Hongqi, Director of the Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine, was held at the Convocation of the School of Chinese Medicine on 3 September 2014. The officiating guests also presented the Au Lock Tung Memorial Scholarship in Chinese Medicine certificates to the scholarship recipients on the occasion.

Speaking at the Convocation, Professor Albert Chan expressed his sincere gratitude to The Sik-Kee Au Family Foundation for its generosity. He also praised Dr. Au Sik Kee for his solid foundation of knowledge in Chinese medicine passed down from his family and his remarkable achievement in the development of computerised and security system products. Dr. Au has made various contributions to Chinese communities in the US, the Greater China region and Hong Kong over the years.

Guests and representatives of HKBU attending the Convocation included the family members of Dr. and Mrs. Au Sik Kee; Professor Bian Zhao Xiang, Associate Vice-President and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine; Professor Zhao Zhongzhen, Associate Dean of Chinese Medicine; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement; Mrs. Helen Tsang, Head of the Secretariat of the School of Chinese Medicine, and others.
