The University recently received a generous donation of HK$900,000 from the Qingfeng Pharmaceutical Group in support of innovative drug discovery in Chinese medicine. The Group also commissioned the School of Chinese Medicine for HK$2.7 million to conduct a five-year research project entitled "Aptamer modified Paclitaxel for tumor treatment" to explore new drug and therapy for treating cancer. In recognition of the Group's generosity, a cheque presentation and agreement signing ceremony officiated by Mr. Tang Chun Shan, Managing Director of the Qingfeng Pharmaceutical Group, Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research & Development), and Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine, was held on 4 September 2014.
In his speech, Professor Albert Chan expressed his sincere gratitude to the Qingfeng Pharmaceutical Group for its tremendous support. He looked forward to receiving continuous guidance from the Group to enhance teaching and research in Chinese medicine at HKBU.
Guests and representatives of HKBU attending the ceremony included Mrs. Tang Chun Shan, Ms. Zhao Xin, Dr. Zhang Ge, Associate Director and Associate Professor of the Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine, Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement, and Mrs. Helen Tsang, Head of the Secretariat of the School of Chinese Medicine. After the ceremony, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for the guests at Shiu Pong Hall.
