Dr. John Chan awarded Honorary University Fellow
Dr. John Chan, Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee and Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation and Honorary Court Member of HKBU, was awarded an Honorary University Fellow early this month by The Open University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Chan, Chairman of Chaifa Holdings Limited, actively serves in public positions both in Hong Kong and China. He has devoted tremendous effort to philanthropic endeavours and generously supported the establishment of educational institutes.

Dr. Vincent Lo named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 HK & Macau Winner
Dr. Vincent Lo, JP, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation and Chairman of Shui On Group, was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 (Hong Kong and Macau) at the end of October. The recognition is highly regarded among entrepreneurs and was chosen by an independent panel of judges who selected the winners in 12 categories. Dr. Lo was selected as the winner in the Real Estate category as well as gaining the honour of representing Hong Kong and Macau in the World Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Monte Carlo next year.

 Foundation members received honours from the HKSAR Government
 
 Four HKBU Foundation members were included in this year's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Honours List in recognition of their significant contribution to Hong Kong and dedicated public and community service. The presentation ceremony was held on 17 October at the Government House.

Dr. Hari Naroomal Harilela, JP, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in recognition of his long and distinguished community service, particularly his significant contribution to the well being of the ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

Mr. Albert Hung Chao-hong, JP, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star in recognition of his contribution to the development of sports in Hong Kong and his exemplary efforts in fostering sports exchange programmes between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Mr. William Leung Wing-cheung, JP, Chairman of the Alumni Committee and Honorary Director of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star for his contribution to the development and promotion of culture and arts in Hong Kong.

Professor Frank Fu Hoo-kin, JP, Secretary-General and Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the Medal of Honour for his valuable contribution to the promotion and development of sports in Hong Kong.

Mr. Gabriel Yu appointed Honorary Fellow
Mr. Gabriel Yu Chi-ming, Director of the HKBU Foundation, Founder and Chairman of iTVentures Group of Companies and Italade Technology Holdings Ltd, has been appointed an Honorary Fellow of City University of Hong Kong in September. Mr. Yu is widely recognised for his contribution to IT Education. His company has created an online version of the traditional Chinese book "Siku Quanshu" setting a fine example for incorporating technology into Chinese culture.

Dr. Ho Tzu-leung named Honorary University Fellow
Dr. Ho Tzu-leung, Honorary Trustee of the HKBU Foundation and Director of the S.H. Ho Foundation Limited Management Limited, received an Honorary University Fellow from The University of Hong Kong in September. Dr. Ho is dedicated to improving global medical service, and has made frequent contributions to the development of community services and tertiary education. HKBU has benefited much from his support through the S.H. Ho Foundation's donations to the University's development, research on Pearl River Delta environment and Chinese Medicine.

Mr. David Mong appointed Honorary University Fellow
Mr. David Mong Tak-yeung, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation and Chairman of Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund, was awarded the title of Honorary University Fellow by The University of Hong Kong in recognition of his contribution to education. Under Mr. Mong's able leadership, the Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund has become a very active philanthropic enterprise and has contributed regularly and substantially to education projects, including HKBU.

Dr. Ronald Lu appointed Honorary University Fellow
Dr. Ronald Lu, Vice-Chairman and Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded an Honorary University Fellow in September by HKBU.

Dr. Lu, the noted local architect, has made many contributions to HKBU over the years. He is also highly regarded for his outstanding achievements in architectural design and has made many contributions to the community.
